Welcome To First Christian Church Katy
AN OPEN ARMS CHURCH
A Church with Open Arms - is both an architectural and philosophical description of the First Christian Church of
Katy. If one looks at our sanctuary, the open arms are visible to the naked eye - extending out from either end of the
building. When one - any one - comes into our church open arms are seen, heard, and felt as you are welcomed into this
community we call our church home. Thus we are now a marvelous mosaic of fully five generations of members - truly a family church.
Having held our first meeting on June 4, 1978, we are now approaching 31 years of Ministry in the Katy area. We're proud of our heritage
- but even prouder that we know we've only just begun in our life as part of this vibrant community.
As a part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we are a mainline Protestant church - proud of our heritage as a uniquely
American denomination. We were founded on principles of independence of thought, diversity of perspectives and unity of all Christians.
We are truly "one in the spirit."
A primary quality of our worship - in addition to an emphasis on the loving, life-giving Gospel of Jesus Christ - is our weekly observance of Communion - a table, which is open to all who come in the name of Jesus. It is His table - and His invitation.
